Accreditation is a voluntary comprehensive process of an internal self study, in which outside validators review the program, and verify its compliance with the criteria of the National Academy of Early Childhood Programs. Wee Know has been a state licensed facility since 1974 and has also been accredited by the Academy since 1996. The standards for accreditation are much more difficult to achieve than those of the state. Child/teacher ratios must be lower, group size smaller, the educational level of teachers higher, and there is a much greater emphasis on the interactions between staff, parents and the children. We are very proud of this achievement as only five percent of all child care centers in the United States have earned such recognition.
